I’m sorry for the random post but seeing all the talk of Belichick’s draft mishaps makes me wonder how good Malcolm Mitchell would’ve been if he wasn’t so injury prone…
I remember that 2016 season watching Malcolm Mitchell grow into a solid weapon was so nice to see after years of Pats missing on WRs in drafts. Each game you could see Brady’s trust in him grow… resulting in the 28-3 Super Bowl where he converted 5 targets in the 4th quarter into four first downs. I mean the fact that Brady was willing to throw to a rookie in such a big moment (esp when he had Gronk, Edelman, sweetfeet, etc) and Malcolm coming through was so nice to see. (Also side note but I feel like what goes unnoticed in the WR draft mishaps is that whether it was MM or N’Keal, Brady was always willing to give rooks an opportunity to prove themselves by throwing them a bunch of passes)
Also his backstory in promoting reading with children just made him such a likable guy all around:
“Mitchell was not a strong reader when he began college, then reading only at a middle school level, but grew to love reading; even joining a women’s reading club and promoting literacy among youth. He is more proud of his reading accomplishments than of making (and later winning) the Super Bowl.”
Really wonder what his potential would have been if he stayed healthy with Brady at the helm.
Who else is someone you thought had the potential or just was overall a fun guy to experience watching in the Pats dynasty years?
“Brady was always willing to give rooks an opportunity”
Did we watch the same Brady?
