Hi r/VOIP community,

We’re upgrading from POTS to fiber with AT&T and hoping to consolidate our internet services (currently with Spectrum). Here’s the plan:

  • Location: We want to install the fiber ONT in a converted garage, which is ethernet-connected to the main house.
  • Setup: After the ONT in the garage, the connection would go to the Router/VOIP devices in the main house. We use a mix of ethernet and WiFi devices, along with a bunch of old-school telephone jacks that we of course want them to connect to VOIP.

Questions:

  • Feasibility with AT&T: Can this setup work with AT&T’s infrastructure?
  • Installation Process: How do I approach this with AT&T? Should I discuss it directly with the installers on arrival, or is there a specific department I should contact beforehand?
  • Additional Tips: Any other suggestions or tips for this kind of setup?

Appreciate any advice or insights from those who’ve had similar experiences!
