I gave my browns fan friend shit for signing kareem hunt and trading for watson, and used to laugh at the Bengals 15 years ago with half their defense arrested.

But then I remember not really thinking about Ben’s stuff too hard, James Harrison DV, Antonio Brown stuff, and now Ryan Shazier cheating.

I’m not some gossip monger i just want to watch football. But at some point these guys are role models and what not with a lot of power in their reach and voice.

How do yinz think about this kind of thing? Does it affect who your fans of or do you separate the person from their sport performance?

It really just comes down to if your willing/able to “separate the art from the artist”….

Harvey Weinstein/Roman Polanski are fucking terrible people but I’m still gunna watch their movies

R Kelly is a disgusting piece of shit but like… that man can sing lol

I don’t blame anyone at all that can’t ignore the awful shit people do but I also am not mad at anyone(like myself) that can still enjoy the work that awful people have done 🤷‍♂️ doesn’t mean I support their actions

I’m disappointed a bit, but he ain’t the 1st person that’s ever done this (if it’s true). It’s not like the guy murdered anyone or beat anyone. We are all human and go through trials and errors like this in our lives. Sure we “expect” some of these incredible players to be better than “us”, but that’s just not the reality 90% of the time. This obstacle is now something Ryan has to deal with, and hopefully and and his wife can overcome this obstacle. Whether it’s divorce, or staying together to combat the adversity.

Regardless, he was still an incredible football player on field, and did overcome his scary injury. could I have done that both physically and mentally? I’d want to believe so, but probably not. If he could still play, I’d still want him back on the team.

    It’s like actors:

I enjoy most Tom cruise movies but I’ll admit the dude is super weird.

I root for the Steelers but I can admit that Ben had a questionable past (seems like he has it together now) along with the guys you mentioned. It sucks but just because you’re a fan of the team doesn’t mean you have to revere these players.
