I’ve been considering an 8bitdo Pro 2, but was put off by the placement of the ABXY buttons (Nintendo Style, not Xbox/Steam Deck Style).
I stumbled upon a video today that explains you can buy replacement buttons for the controller to use the Xbox style (the original buttons can’t simply be swapped because the pins are different) and how to do the swap:

I admit I’m not sure I’m skilled enough to actually do it - but that’s very cool. From the comments, it sounds like the buttons will work correctly when paired in Xbox Mode.
I wish they would make an option to sell the controller that way. I’m aware I could probably get one of their Xbox controllers to pair with the Deck as the same idea, but the only two options either lack wireless (Pro 2 Wired Controller) or grips (SN30 Pro) and I’d want both. Plus the Pro 2 is intended to be specifically Steam Deck compatible. Or use a standard Xbox controller or 8bitdo Ultimate Controller that’s wireless and gripped - just means the Dpad/Left Analog are backwards, and may lack back buttons.
Anyway just though I’d share in case anyone was interested. Cheers!
