I feel like some of these games could have gone much differently if the offense would just change one simple thing:

Stop mindlessly ramming Jacobs into to the line, over and over, when it is clearly not working.

Jacobs looks as quick and powerful as ever, but our run-blocking indisputably sucks. If you take away his 63-yard run in the last game, Jacobs averaged … 2.7 yards/carry. Yes, you read that right – less than 3yds/carry.

In my opinion, AOC has been playing pretty well. He’s a rookie, and is going to make some mistakes. But he’s being placed, over and over again, in situations where he’s throwing on 3rd and 5-6, when the defense KNOWS he is going to throw (because our running game has gone nowhere.)

So I’m curious as to whether my primary diagnosis is shared by the good people here. Surely I’m not the only one yelling at the TV – “Stop! It’s not working! Do something else!”

I don’t understand why people subtract a big run and then look at the average yards per carry. Those big plays are exactly why you stay patient with the run game. It’s obvious to me that long run statistic should count, like it does for every other RB. We’ve proven, with JJ, the more carries he has, the more likely we win.
