Today I found a car online locally at a big chain name that I’ve been looking for, but the price was a tad high considering some maintenance that it’s behind on and it’s been on their lot for 4 months.

It’s not a super desirable car for most, but I have a “thing” for these cars. I calculated what the maintenance would cost and came up with a number that I could pay for the car based off that VS it’s market value.

I emailed their internet sales guy with my interest in the car, my explanation of what it needs based off it’s service history etc, and what I could offer for it. I explained that I’d be happy to come check it out but I needed to know where they were at on price to make sure I wasn’t wasting everyone’s time.

Of course the response I get is “we can’t come that low but come on in and we can talk about it” …

WTH… No,I need to know what the best you can do on it is so I don’t waste everyones time. I emailed them back telling them I’d work with them a little and come in if they could tell me their best price. I just need to know what I’m working with … crickets…

Why do car dealers always have to be so difficult to work with? Why can’t we just work out a deal over email while I’m at work? No I don’t want to waste 4 hours coming to the dealer to bicker back and forth over $200 or find out your price is way out of the ball park. Just tell me your best fucking price like I asked for, yeesh.
