Long story short, I started a business this summer and a corporation was not the right structure for it. It adds a layer of unnecessary complexity that I don’t want to spend mental energy on. Single member LLC taxed as a sole proprietorship is what I should have done and which I intend to do for 2024 and onward.
In any event I’d like to entirely dissolve (is this the correct terminology?) the S-corp before the end of the year. This will be a juggling act as I intend to keep working through this predicament and likely creating an LLC as seamlessly as possible. I’d prefer to be done with corporation and not have to once again deal with this next tax season.
So I ask, do you have any advice for this situation? Should I contact a CPA for either dissolving the corp or beginning the LLC? I’d like to have it done right so I don’t have any nasty surprises next year. I know I’m going to lose some money in the process which isn’t the end of the world. This has been a bit of a crash course in business literacy. Thanks all.
