We pretty much need to lose out to secure a top 5 draft pick (remember we’re ahead of a few other 4 win teams in draft order only because we haven’t had our bye week yet), but could slip out of the top 10 based on some wins going our way.

There may be two to three wins left on the schedule even with how bad the team is.

  • The Jets are just as bad as we are and may be even worse depending on Aaron Rodgers’s comeback.
  • The Cowboys in week 18 may also be resting their players and give us a win.
  • Rams have a couple tough games coming up that may knock them out of playoff contention. They may also be embracing the tank by the time we match up.

There’s still a lot of football left. Everything is up in the air based on how the defense responds to Ron as DC, Howell’s continued development, and overall team morale. There’s even a shot at the playoffs. Either way, there’s enough football left that we shouldn’t be taking a Top 5 pick for granted yet.

I just want to see competitive football. We have 1 win potential on the schedule… obviously any given Sunday. I would be happy if the team won because it means they still care and are fighting even though they know they’re out. It would be great to draft a top 5 pick. If we keep it competitive and lose late hopefully our players keep those experiences and use it to help them develop in the off season… getting better for that last little push to win the game.
