Heyo. I’ve built a new PC recently and I moved over the SSD from my old PC. I now have decided to do a clean install of Windows with the media creation tool and AFAIK I’ll need my Windows OEM key to activate Windows. However, since I switched out my motherboard, there is no key connected to my PC anymore, and it seems to be some phantom key connected to either my Microsoft account or SSD (somehow). I’ve tried retrieving it running wmic path softwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey in the command prompt, and also using NeoSmart’s OemKey.exe. CMD returns “OA3xOriginalProductKey” and NeoSmart returns: “Unable to open MSDM table! This PC does not contain an embedded product key - search for a product key sticker or contact your manufacturer for assistance.”

My old PC’s box is long gone since 5 years, and my old PC case has no key on any sticker. I have no idea if Acer Support would give me a new one/give me my old number, besides, I have no way to prove that I actually did have one.

Is there any other way to retrieve my OEM key or will I just have to purchase a new one?

Thank you.
