I was too young at the time and only watched the games. Nearly every intricacy of the league alluded me and my dad was a Giants fan so he would never talk about the Dolphins.

But I’ve recently purchased NFL head coach 09 and and in it im preparing for the 2008 NFL draft. I’m only for the first time realizing that the Dolphins were in need of a quarterback, with the first overall pick and Matt Ryan is considered a valuable quarterback prospect expected to be picked high in the first round.

Fans who were paying attention at the time, aware of the leagues intricacies… why did Tony not choose to pick a quarterback to start his coaching tenure with?

The best answer I have would be that they expected a top three draft pick again. Perhaps Tony didn’t like Matt as much as he liked another quarterback prospect who would be eligible the next season and wanted to prepare the offense so whatever quarterback they drafted wasn’t thrown into the fire
