Hello everyone,

I’m a French native currently learning Italian and beginning to pay more and more interest in the Série A league.

I would like to pick a team to follow (not support as I think supporting a team comes from the heart etc) but I don’t know how to choose.

I’m a long time PSG supporter (including the late 2000s where we almost went down to Ligue 2) as I was born, raised and live around Paris, I also support FC Barcelona as half of my family comes from Barcelona and I have a strong Catalan family background (anti-Franquists etc).

So as you imagine being a supporter of those 2 teams I don’t mind suffering wether it’s in Europe or in domestic leagues (as I said, I knew what it was like being a PSG supporter back in late 90s to late 2000s).

If I had to pick right off the top of my hat I would go for AC Milan first as I like some of their French players (Giroud, Kalulu, Hernandez and Maignan) as well as other players (Kjaer, Romero, Loftus Cheek, Florenzi). I also like the ‘blue collar’ team background (as opposed to Inter who was mostly the bourgeoisie at the time) but I don’t like the Berlusconi part of the club’s history.

But I’m open to any other clubs to look for and pick as a ‘club I will follow in the Serie A’.

I just want to avoid Juventus (don’t ask why) and Naples (because around me it seems everyone is newly rooting for Naples and I kind of want to avoid following the same team as the current hype).

My experience with Italy : went to Rome a couple of times, to Naples (as well as Amalfi and the surrounding area), to Sicily and once to Pordenone near Venezia for work (I used to work for Electrolux which have a plant there, all the colleagues were rooting for Juventus).

History-wise I love Italian History between the 15th century up to the Risorgimento (it has nothing to do with calcio but at least I go full disclosure on helping you giving me advice for the team to follow).

Thank you very much,

Edit : also if you know of any legal ways to watch the Serie A in France (despite going to Beinsports), I’m all hears if there’s like a Serie A pass on an app or website that is legal and better than the channel we have here. And if not, where is the best place to watch game replays and highlights.

Thanks,

I’m Italian but not a proper football supporter (it’s weird I know)…I think you can just choose the city you like the most and follow the city team. My personal favourites are Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Torino for various reasons (city history, supporters passion, team colours/logos, former players)
