Before this, I’ve had zero issues with my 2017 VW Jetta. Last night I tried to turn the key to start the car. It’s parked in P1 parking garage, and the temperature was about 5°C. As soon as I turned the key, everything just went black. No little engine lights, no radio, headlights turned off, my windows stopped working, and I couldn’t lock my car.
I had to click my remote lock about 10 times before it finally found the energy to lock the driver door, and another 10 clicks to lock the back passenger doors.
I unplugged my dashcam, USB cable to my phone, and any other accessories I could find.
I pulled my gf’s car along side it and started boosting. That didn’t work for the first 10 minutes, until I jiggled the connectors a bit and it finally turned on. Great!
I took it out for a 10 min spin and realized I needed gas. I stopped at the station, filled up, tried to turn the car back on and boom, everything went black again. I had to do another boost.
I drove around for another 20 min, parked the car in my garage, and same thing. It’s dead again.
I’m going to call my dealership soon to see if they have an answer, but I think the first thing I’m going to try is change the battery. It might be dead as it’s the original one from day 1.
Any ideas?
