If we are truly in a competitive rebuild, this is the perfect opportunity to see what Trey Lance can do as a starter. If it works, we have our franchise QB. If not, you cut your losses and move on. It’s a low risk move that would require minimal draft capital, which seems to be the biggest concern with any potential move Kwesi makes tomorrow.

The issue with Trey is he has never been fully healthy. He dealt with a nagging finger injury his rookie year that affected his accuracy before breaking his ankle two starts into his sophomore year. No one knows what he can do because he hasn’t played. Purdy capitalized on his opportunity last season and earned the right to start. Trey didn’t lose it. Bottom line, if KOC thinks Trey can develop into a full time starter we should absolutely take that shot.
