Another game, another so-so outing from our defense, and yet somehow another win. I agree that our defense is a major problem, but let’s take a look at some of the facts about today’s game.

  1. Our starting MLB - a defensive captain whom most of us will all agree is one of our better defensive palyers this year - was watching this game from his couch with an injured hand.

  2. Our marquee free agent to help out our defense has been out injured since week 2.

  3. The Saints would not have scored their final touchdown if it weren’t for a 36-year-old veteran who just joined the team - who should know how to finnesse hitting a QB - committing a roughing the passer penalty to extend the drive.

Our defense hasn’t been great - we knew coming into the season it wouldn’t be - but this is a far cry from our horrific Defensive Coordinators of the past like Teryl “can’t count to 11” Austin and Paul Pasqualoni.

We need another off-season of shoring up this side of the ball with talent. We need the best defensive player available at the 32nd pick (sip). And yet, even needing talent, we’re still a top 10 defense in both opponent pass completion percentage, and opponents yards per rushing carry.

Edit: My point of this post is that, when we get a win to have a 0.750 record on the season, yet half of our front page is wanting to fire our DC on the spot, that is asinine loser thinking. Maybe there could be some changes in the offseason, but you don’t fire coordinators mid-season when you’re 9-3 unless you want to finish 9-8
