I know this is recency bias and he’s just looking good against the Rams that even made Jordan Love look good, but it really seems like Joe flacco would fit our offense better. He’s a prototypical pocket passer which is what KOC seems to work best with. I think he may have even been a free agent so while the late round pick we gave to the Cardinals doesn’t really matter, I think it would be a positive to get a quarterback without giving up any picks.

We were looking for a guy who could come in and back up Hall until Mullens was off IR. Presumably they considered guys like Flacco or Ryans or Wentz or whoever else was available in free agency, and ultimately decided to go with the guy who was an up and down starter for Arizona but had started a game within days of joining the team.

The cost was less than a 6th rounder (because of the conditional 7th) if Dobbs wound up just being a backup for a couple of weeks, while if he wound up starting he would have been worth significantly more than the 6th rounder they gave up for him.

In retrospect a different move like grabbing Flacco might have made more sense, but grabbing a guy who’d started a number of games this year for next to nothing probably seemed like a safer bet than signing a washed up vet off the street and hoping he’ll be in game shape by the time we needed him.
