Quick post for my statistics savants out there.
Many of us wondered about the unfairness of officiating we have experienced over the last several years and whether that may change with a change in ownership or a change in defensive strategy. Through 1/4 of the season, the results so far are surprising.
Phoenix is receiving 9.7% FEWER fouls called against them per game year-over-year from last season, AND opponents are receiving 12.5% MORE fouls called against them per game year-over-year from last season.
Statistically, this suggests there may have been some merit to the idea we were getting screwed either due to ownership or coaching.
Will these new trends continue, or has this been a truly anomalous first 20 games? Time will tell.
