Not here to sell anything, but I’ve been pretty reflective the past couple days after launching my first game. It’s a love letter to arcade titles like Mappy or Donkey Kong (but stealthy?).

I really made the game as a learning opportunity and because I love arcade games, but it’s gotten me thinking. What place do those games have in a market like today’s?

Do you think games like that (with simple gameplay and mechanics I mean) are reserved more for browser games or mobile? Do you think people on PC or consoles find them interesting still? Personally, I love them for their easy to understand, hard to master aspect, plus they’re usually quite challenging.

I’d love to hear what y’all think. Do you find them fun, or do think they’re mostly a relic that came and went. Are there any modern games you can think of that embody those old-school games?
