I see a lot of people mad about what they see on defense, I think its also bad but I get annoyed hearing the word “scheme” used to blame bad defensive play. Just want to bring a few stats into this and then see what others are also seeing. Maybe help me see why its all specific peoples fault.

  • Hurries - T-2nd
  • Hurry % - 2nd
  • Blitz % - 17th
  • QBKD - T-15th
  • Sacks - 27th
  • Pressure % - T- 6th
  • Rush yards - 5th
  • Passing yards - 17th

DL - I see a lot of ability to disrupt the pocket but no one at all seems to be able to get to the QB and finish. I think part of it is the constant commitment to run defense and holding gaps and Harris only committing to run stopping ever.

DB - If we are making QBs throw off schedule 2nd most in the league and still allowing receivers to get open I’m gonna look towards the DBs first. I’m not saying that’s the only issue (AG is not innocent) but there has to be people getting beat on the field consistently for those stats to be true.

I’ve been thinking the lions would be very smart to get Josh Uche this offseason. NE probably won’t resign him because he’s not a built like a patriots LB which is why he doesn’t play that much. But if you watch the patriots play(I live in New England so I unfortunately watch more than I want) he actually generates pressure when he’s on the field. He’d be a nice piece opposite Hutch.
