I think this year is more about establishing the platform for next year, kind of like the Lions second half of last year. If we make the playoffs we probably get bitchslapped in the wild card and then it can end up putting pressure on us and raising expectations for Year 2 of the coaching regime (see the Giants).
Take each game as it comes and we will find out some things about people on the roster, especially any divas who are going to expect to get paid.
it’s a 6 team race for three playoff spots. Anything less than 4-1 won’t work. And 4-1 will depend on 5 other teams . Colts, Texans, Steelers, Browns and Bills.
You have head to head tie breakers against two of those 5. You lose a head to head tie breaker against one of those 5.
If we run the table I would say it’s a lock we are in. If we go 3-2 I would say it’s a lock we are out.
at this point, our best chance, assuming we win at least 4 games is for the Texans to win 4 games as well and avoid a tie with them.
If we do wind up tying records with the Texans, we need a 3rd team to tie as well to eliminate the head to head tie breaker we now don’t have.
