I ordered a 2024 Rav4 Hybrid LE at the end of August 2023 through a Toyota dealership in Ontario. The dealership contacted me in September: Toyota Canada has matched my order to a production vehicle. I met with the salesperson to sign all the paperwork and was given a delivery date by Toyota Canada between October 19-29, 2023.
One month later on November 25, I reached out to see if the car had arrived and the salesperson was surprised that I did not have the car. I told him nobody reached out to me about the delay of the car nor updated me if the car had arrived or not.

The salesperson looked into the matter and came back with the dealership can’t “find” the car. There are no updates from Toyota Canada and the dealership has no idea where the car is located at this moment since nobody can trace the car’s whereabouts. Therefore, the salesperson considered the 2024 Rav4 LE as “stolen” and placed another order with Toyota Canada as a high priority. Currently, the salesperson’s ordering manager is trying to find a vehicle for me.
As I gave them a month to reach out to me on the delivery of my car, now I’m contacting the dealership every week to ask for updates.
Has anyone heard of a car gone missing within a dealership? My theory is the car was sold to another owner who needed a car as theirs could have been stolen.
