Hello, asking in all seriousness. No judgment. I have been married 20 years, we have sold a few very small businesses together and have three kids. Recently, our latest business has been in the works, not profitable for 4 years. He has been relying on my income solely for the past 7, while he had 4 failed companies in a row. He is a “creative”, but I make the business, money happen. I had a small windfall and we put that into this latest venture. Now I am in my early 40’s and this company is starting to take off. He is also getting notoriety from it(writer) and often has to sign books for women in their20’s. They are all flirting eyes, and I am right there. He seems totally open to it. Let me say, I am no dog at all! I mean I am beautiful. However; I am about 3 inches taller than my spouse. I think the attention he is getting is giving him options he didn’t have.
Prior to this he has always been very loving and loyal. I am no dummy and don’t put up with shit, doesn’t hurt that my family is all lawyers and judges.
My mother in law is in town and has told me to throw the hammer down, she doesn’t like what she sees. His father is a monster, and she told me to “protect myself”. I think she senses what I do.
I will be adding my name to the company with 50% ownership in January. I invested all the money, own/bought the house and all the vehicles. The problem is when I saw I want 50% of ownership and voting rights he flipped out and said, “I don’t want to be in a position where I am fighting my ex wife for what I built”. I told hime, then I pull my credit and funds from the company. I will not be in a position where he buys me out for the value of the company in year one, when two years later it will be worth 10x that. I want to be sure that my kids get the value and not someone else’s.
He has worked me to the bone while working full time. Is this a common thing for “Entrepreneurs”?
