So today my grandmother gifted me with her old 21.5” iMac from 2014. It’s become extremely slow over the years (which I assume is mostly due to the mechanical hard drive). I thought maybe it might be worthwhile to try and upgrade the cpu/ram/replace the hdd with an ssd. Considering I got the computer for free I thought it would be worth it to upgrade it myself as it might be cheaper than purchasing a newer more powerful machine, but upon further research I realized this particular model of iMac has a soldered cpu and ram. Could I possibly replace the mother board with another iMac motherboard and still do these upgrades? If anyone more knowledgeable than me would be kind enough to shed some light on this I’d be extremely grateful.
