Hey everyone!
I am NOT asking for assistance with the individual support, I’ve already submitted my ticket. I hope all your days have gone better than mine so far. Last night I had an interesting game before I left to work the night shift at my hospital job. TLDR, we were doing excellent but I suggested to my fellow support that maybe we shouldn’t have two supports in the same lane on Blizzard World. We were in the 4th round and doing pretty excellent, but I guess he took that suggestion to heart because he started flaming me calling me a “dumbass”, “fucking idiot” and what have you. I didn’t care honestly, stopped responding, and kept playing the game. I instantly regretted what I suggested because he started throwing. He then went on to switch from Kiriko to Lucio then just went off in the back line using speed completely disengaged from the team, and we lost. Whatever, it’s a game so I reported him for throwing because that’s quite literally the definition of throwing. Today I woke up ready to chill and play some Overwatch with friends, but I saw this lovely message:
I then checked my email to find out that I was suspended for 2 weeks! It sucks because I’m a college student and winter break starts soon. Anyways, I’m extremely confused because the email states I’m suspended for “behavior.” Initially, I thought maybe I said something mildly offensive because I know you can get a communication suspension pretty easily. I mean, I’ve gotten silenced for cheering on my teammate by saying “Yeah ashe, get that bitch ass doom!” aha. When I got silenced, they did provide proof of my inappropriate chat in the email. However, I looked into the Code of Conduct, and behavior violations are defined as falsely reporting, throwing games, blocking team progress, etc. Overwatch can be frustrating, along with some of the players but throughout my entire time of playing this game, I can honestly say I’ve never gotten so angry that I’ve deliberately thrown a game or gone out of my way to falsely report somebody.
This is the whole email, excluding my name, username, and email.
I was doing some digging and I’ve seen that other people have received a suspension or ban as a result of mass false reporting. My main question is, has anyone else received an unjustified suspension as a result of false reporting? Is this a recurring issue in the Overwatch community?
