Hi all,

Mum owns a Suzuki Ignis hybrid (UK). She recently bricked the car stereo/console by entering the security code incorrectly a few times. Car garage told her they’d need to send the console to Suzuki for a reset.

When Mum picked the car up she noticed the hybrid battery light flashing away on the dashboard. She queried with garage and was told “it’ll settle down” once driven and charged.

3 weeks later it’s still flashing. Takes it back to garage. Garage contacts Suzuki who ask for a .ngd file and a technician is able to see that “battery depleted due to ACC being left on for extended period.” So much so it will no longer charge.

So it seems while the car was with the garage, someone left the key in the ignition. Or taking the console out has somehow had the same effect. In any case, garage won’t take responsibility and are saying it’ll cost £2,000 to replace.

Anyone know much about these .ngd database files and if it’s possible to tell when the battery would have been depleted?

Or have any other advice about how to prove/argue liability?
