Regarding the Glenn hate, I just think people need to be reminded of some things about yesterday’s game and our team in general.

First, I see a lot of post saying the Saints and Carr are trash. But they are a top ten passing team. Also, they are insanely opportunistic. I know in the fantasy football realm, they talk about how the Saints often chuck the ball way down field. Not many connect, but they aren’t afraid. Being that our weakness is pass defense, of course they gouged us. And look at some of those huge chunk plays. A couple were underthrown balls that Olave made great catches on. Olave is the nfl leader in air yards, which proves the chuck it and forget it mentality of the Saints.

Of course our pass defense could be better. Holmes tried to beef it up. We lost Mosely who would have been a good counter part with Sutton. And we lost CJGJ. Those are huge losses. Also out yesterday was Anzalone (congrats on the baby!). He was playing at a very high level and this was a big loss. Also missed out on the Saints revenge game.

Our pass rush is hopefully getting back Houston soon. And Irvin seemed to provide some brief sparks. Our run defense is still elite as well.

As for rushing QBs, they eat up almost everyone. That’s why they are considered a cheat code in the NFL. I actually think we did pretty well stopping Hill. It took some time, but we did hold him. He never outright took over the game like Lamar did. Could we do better? Probably. But pretty much the whole league is in the same boat.

The biggest concern I have is our o-line play. When a starter is out, it really shows. Sorsdal is definitely not it, at least not yet in his career. One thing you can say about the defense is that even when they lose a key piece, they play at the same level (which maybe is already a low bar). But when the offense loses a lineman, things get noticeably out of whack.

Should Glenn go? I don’t think he should yet. We tried to fix holes from last year, but injuries got us. Holmes could have drafted a CB as well, but he didn’t. Heck, we missed on Witherspoon, and Gonzalez and Porter Jr are both playing at high levels. Both we passed on for offensive players. I think Glenn still has some potential once he gets players around him who are starters and not forced backups being starters.
