This is my Vietnam war inspired 3 watch collection.
Starting with a Timex Expedition North Field Post Solar 36mm on an olive ADAPT strap. It’s inspired by the Benrus DTU 2A/P field watch which was officially issued by the military. It love that it’s solar powered and take it with me on every camping trip.
I’m the middle is the re-issued Seiko 6105 (Captain Willard) with a green face and Uncle Seiko z199 bracelet. This watch was popular at PX shops and featured in Apocalypse Now leading to the popular nick name. I’m a sucker for a green watch face, so chose that over the more original black. This is my most worn watch of the 3. It’s my daily desk driver since I think it’s the coolest and most versatile looking. It is the one that annoys me the most because it doesn’t keep very good time. I understand that’s a common complaint for the movement and would love if Seiko would make a quartz version.
At the end is a Benrus x Beams Plus Type I Dive Watch. I found this on EBay and haven’t been able to find a lot of info on it other than being a limited edition JDM release. I considered many other Type I homages and was happy to stumble upon a quartz model from a good Japanese brand. I was close to getting a Tornek-Rayville, but they sold out too quickly. The Marathon doesn’t feel close enough to the original and the Benrus reissue is too expensive. The original Benrus Type I was issued by the military to Navy Seals. I take this watch on every beach trip.
I have that Willard and I really like it a lot. So much personality.
As for. It keeping good time : it can easily be regulated by a watchmaker for a small fee. Mine is +10s/day, not great, not terrible (Jk it’s actually ok for me)
