He shouldn’t have in my opinion. Nothing he posted is any worse than half the other crap that was on twitter. I favor free speech over censorship any day.
With the block button, you can easily filter out the noise. Twitter allows knowingly false information and even criminal activity on there. Alex did not cross the criminal line which is where I think free speech can be ignored.
I feel the block button is the best way to handle most things but I do agree in some situations, the service provider should block content that is in that grey area.

I don’t want the average person trying to decide what is ‘misinformation’. The average person is an idiot.
We had the Whitehouse asking social media to censor content they didn’t agree with. That is a big no-no.
