Earliest memory: the 1992 Divisional Playoffs.
Prior to that game, I’d never watched an Eagles-Cowboys game live or seen any highlights. Imagine turning that game on and seeing the score as 28-3 Cowboys. Didn’t even have a clue at the time that they were division rivals who played each other twice a season (thankfully, or I would’ve lost it).
First “real” heartbreak: 1994 at Philly
We were in the middle of a losing streak, and they were trying to three-peat. We mounted a furious comeback and had reached the red zone, but Randall’s pick-six to Darren Woodson late sealed it. 31-19 Cowboys.
First moment of triumph: 4th and 1
The broadcast hadn’t switched to the game until Gary Anderson’s game-winning field goal, so I found out about 4th and 1 later, but man, did it feel good to beat them for once.
Most exciting moment: tie between James Willis’ pick and Lito Sheppard’s pick
Both sealed the game. Willis’ pick and lateral to Troy Vincent in 96…I still don’t know how the neighbors didn’t call the cops on me. Lito’s pick in 2006 to make sure we beat TO in his first return…talk about ending on the highest of highs!
Favorite asswhooping: 44-6
Come on, can it be anything else? 37-9 in 2017 was nice (Graham smacking his helmet and yelling “we whooping that ass” made it even better), but nothing beats 44-6 to claim the final playoff spot.
Least favorite asswhooping: 2009 when they beat us twice in two weeks (and three-game swept us)
I honestly believe we could’ve won if we hadn’t lost Jamaal Jackson in the second-to-last game. He was critical to making sure our OL functioned at their peaks, but without him, we had to drop two straight to them to end the McNabb era.
