Paolo isn’t a good fit on this team.

Yes he’s a second year developing player, but his participation in our offence is so clunky. It seems like the other 4 have defined roles and play in the flow of the offence, whereas he’s just sort of there, ISOing and getting in the way. And this isn’t solely about last night - to me this has been a problem dating back to last season.

Every man, woman, and dog knew before the draft that this team badly needed a floor spacer. And then Paolo fell into our lap. Based on his size and potential, I think it was the right pick. But for our short-term prospects, it has exacerbated our issues.

This will never happen in a million years, but I would love to see Paolo playing with the second unit. Surround him with shooters and center the offence around him. Let him build some confidence away from Franz, who he frankly doesn’t have much chemistry with.

I’m sure this will make people mad, but just being honest about what I’ve seen.

Am I a moron?

For me it’s not really a hot take, it’s something I’ve been concerned about for a while.

Paolo is a very promising talent, but the dude is still raw and learning.

You may be right, time will tell, but I would encourage patience because these are VERY young men who need time to figure this thing out. I think we can rest assured that if they ain’t working Weltman will move them. I don’t think Weltman has kept anyone on this team for an unreasonable amount of time if they aren’t working out.
