This year’s Ballon D’or was just based on sentimentality of “Messi finally won the big thing, his career is completed, so let’s just give it to him.” I know that goals shouldn’t be the only thing that matters for an award like the Ballon D’or, but Haaland’s had a beast of a season. Love Messi, but last season, he paled compared to Haaland or even Mbappe for that matter.
