I currently have an Optiplex 7050 with 16TB DAS converted to NAS. Replication and recovery is setup. Running Apache on Ubuntu, with Devstack deployed. Using this to host Plex server, Home Assistant, a Kali VM and a static resume website I have linked to my business cards with a QR code. The Plex server and home assistant are being orchestrated with K8s, monitoring with Prometheus. URLs have SSL certificates, all outbound traffic is encrypted, OPNsense handles all inbound and outbound traffic with permissions for the services I set up, with wireguard VPN set up as to encrypt all traffic.

Everything has been operating smoothly the last couple of months, I’ve been able to learn a ton about openstack, and Prometheus.

I guess I need some ideas as to where to go from here because I want to continue learning, so any thoughts on what projects I can add to this?

I love making music, so I was thinking of creating an image of my music workstation with all my music production DAWs, plug-ins, dependencies, and sound libraries, and images of the associated backup drives attached to it, duplicating them to AWS or Azure, then importing them to my lab via their export services (strictly for learning purposes), with the ultimate goal of creating a containerized environment I can access via RDP anywhere.

But that sounds like more of the same of what I’ve been doing.

Any ideas are desperately welcome.
