Pardon my ignorance but I always thought 2 technical fouls resulted in an ejection. Last night Rudy was called for 2 in the second quarter but wasn’t ejected. Is there an exception for hanging on the rim or something?

first time I ever saw someone get a tech for this, of course it’s a Timberwolves player.

game announcer instantly says during game that the league is making a point about this infraction, that “they don’t want this”. I’m thinking then, since when?

Did they make an obscure rule 20 years ago when Shaq was ripping off rims? I don’t remember.

Just he annual slap to Rudy for being a powerhouse ever since he came here. Rudy should tear the glass down next time.

i watched multiple games last year where the rim got a teeny tiny bit bent and it took the arena crew like 20 minutes to level it back out and resume the game. im guessing they want to avoid this as much as possible it completely kills an entire game. just not a risk worth taking for NBA

Yea I totally appreciate that part of it. Dickheads at the local gyms always hang from the rims and inevitably bend them. Granted, these rims are likely not the same quality as an NBA rim. But it bends it and ruins it for everyone else, regardless.

Rudy is a big dude and can easily bend a rim. Even a smaller player hanging from a rim can bend it with the force of them falling.
