We so easily write off players once they encounter any kind of struggle. He’s garbage, he’s trash, yada yada. Have we forgotten why celebrate sports? It’s a microcosm of us as a society - the good, the bad, the ugly. In the past, when faced adversity, we rallied around each other. Now we stand around, take selfies, make our 30 second videos, and write clever sarcastic one-liners on social media. And unfortunately we’ve learned how to pimp out everything, including sports, and players aren’t human, they’re our bitches. When I see Geno, I see a guy who’s been shit on, chewed up, spit out, but still gets back on his feet every time. Who hasn’t had a bad day or a stretch of bad days. He’s not perfect - but he’s our guy. As KJ Wright said, someone who’s been closer to the reality than we’ll ever be as fans said when talking about Geno’s recent struggles, “He has what it takes, it’s on tape - I think just a little more support and confidence from the fans will help push him over the top.” Let’s give it to him. Or let’s keep whittling him down to nothing and hope that we get Mr. Perfect Tom Brady 2.0 to manifest out of thin air and solve all our problems.
