The 76ers spent months seeking at least 2 FRPs and a swap for Harden. Everyone claimed it was too much to ask for Harden.
Now the 76ers got 2 FRPs and a swap for Harden. Plus three role players in Batum, Covington, and a young KJ Martin. They also got PJ Tucker out of their starting lineup while removing his contract from their books.
It seems like just because Philly didn’t land T.Mann (who they were never going to keep) or N.Powell (whose contract they didn’t want) that everyone wants to call them losers, despite getting almost exactly what they asked for.
They got into exactly the position they wanted to be in. Either they can immediately (or as soon as the trade restriction passes) turn around and make another trade. Or they can wait until the summer where they will have a massive amount of cap space to either make moves in free agency or make a trade into that open cap space.
Given that for months everyone said 2 FRPs and a swap was too much for Harden I don’t understand the sudden shift in claims that they didn’t get enough.
