Can’t wait for a year if dropped passes, goal line fumbles and missed games.

Irv Smith will be the weak link of this team, he will cost the team crucial drives because he can’t cut it. It’s ok though “BecAUse wE dON’T Use tE’s” and the FO can’t do anything wrong as they hoard third day picks that won’t result in squat.

I’m in the minority… but the huge Irv Smith hate is one of the biggest mysteries from this fanbase to me.

I know he fumbled last game… but even before that people were shitting on him hard. He was not the reason our offense was bad in weeks 1-5. We could have had 2011 Gronkowski and it still would have been awful. The fans just needed someone to pile their frustrations on.

I happen to agree with you.

But there is some dumb ass war going on on the Subreddit, where one team thinks the Bengals don’t even need a TE that catches, and another team that rationally thinks having a TE that catches a football is needed for a deep playoff run against elite defenses. Irv Smith aint that guy. I’d love to know if the Bengals called teams like the Patriots, Cardinals, Bears, and Colts to see what they wanted for their TEs that are all upgrades on the Bengals TEs. Maybe those teams wanted too much. I just wish someone would put the fire out and tell us they tried but teams were asking for 3rd round picks.

I really don’t think there are many, if any people saying we don’t need a TE. There is a crowd of people calling for us to trade for a TE, but then they never offer any ideas on who to trade for and what we would have to give up. Then there is another crowd that looks at who is out there and realizes that the most realistic option is Mike Gesicki and that is a lateral move, maybe a slight upgrade at best.
