Montez for a 2nd is a no brainer. The Bears no less, probably a top 7-10 second round pick at worst. He’s gone after this year or we pay him 20m+. A+ grade

Chase Young for a third. Also in my eyes, pretty great. Yes has he looked more like himself this year. Yes he has solid rush rates. But he is injury prone and on a contract year that is make it or break it for his career in terms of $. He is going to command 15-20m+ a year and he’s has what? 1.25 good seasons? Even his ROY wasn’t as impressive as many other ROYs recently. He’s a good player but the risk is way too high to resign. What if he turns into K-mart version of Clowney? It’s clear his ceiling is not Myles Garrett or Bosa. I hope he does well on a winning team but 3rd is perfectly fine value. B+ grade

The biggest part of this all : it’s clear the team is going in a different direction on defense. JDR is most likely gone soon and certainly won’t be here next season. We doubled down on the two guys who make the highest impact in Payne and Allen. Payne has made more plays this year than anyone on the D line and is already locked up. A++++++ grade

Was it a highway robbery? No way (maybe for sweat tbh) Did we get fleeced? Not even fucking close.

We have our QB until proven otherwise (at least can run him 1-3 years on his rookie deal) and load up on free agents and picks that are not QB or 20m a year D linemen. This is a move in the right direction. Is chase kills it in SF that’s amazing, his ceiling on a team with winning culture and smart coaching will always be higher than in WSH. Let’s reload for a playoff push next year.

I’m excited, I actually wish we trade more people and got more picks. I want us to start rebuilding and draft like 5 OL men.
