Hey all,

I recently took my 2016 Tiguan (75k miles) into the dealership who informed me the timing chain needed to be replaced. The quote was extremely high, so I took it to a local shop instead who told me they wouldn’t work on it as the engine is “burning through fuel very quickly” which is apparently indicative of something worse going on and they don’t want to be liable for future issues. So now I am sitting on ten year old car that might be worth very little? I am not sure exactly what I am looking for here, but maybe a little bit of direction. Is the local shop possibly wrong and I could just get the timing chain replaced and keep driving? Should I just cut my losses and trade it in for $1.5k? Any help is much appreciated!
