Some people were saying it’s unfair to compare this season Love to 2008 Rodgers because Rodgers is playing with a talented roster that went 13-3 in previous season, so maybe let compare Love with another qb that had sat behind Rodgers for more than 2 years and played with a roster only went 10-6 with late season Super Saiyan Rodgers in previous season, Brett Hundley.
Huntley (7 games since became starter):
3-4
142/218 (65.1%), 1377 passing yds, 6.32 yds/pass att, 7 passing TDs, 5 INTs, 27 rushing atts, 204 rushing yds, 7.56 yds/rush att, 2 rushing TDs, 1 lost fumble
Love (7 games this season):
2-5
135/234 (57.7%), 1492 passing yds, 6.38 yds/pass att, 11 passing TDs, 8 INTs, 25 rushing atts, 164 rushing yds, 6.56 yds/rushing att, 2 rushing TDs
P.S. Coincidentally, both have two 3 passing TDs and no INT games and a 0 passing TD and 3 INTs game
Hundley had a much better offense around him at the time
I would imagine Jordan Love would be ecstatic to be throwing to prime Davante Adams this year like Hundley was.
Rodgers’ first season wasn’t as rosy in terms of supporting cast as many people seem to remember. Sure there were big names but many were pre-prime or post-prime.
From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel archives:
“Rodgers had to do much of the work himself because the Packers dropped from first to 14th in yards gained after the catch, according to STATS. The four returning wide receivers plus tight end Donald Lee all saw their yards-after-catch average decrease. The WRs also dropped 24 passes, most by the group since 2002, and Jennings was the leader with nine. The fact no running back had a reception for 20 yards or more reflected an unproductive screen game. The No. 18 rank in percentage of sacks allowed was Green Bay’s worst finish since 1996. The offensive line was charged with 22 sacks, its most since '96.”
