I can feel the frustration building with a lot of people with Mobley’s offensive development.

I have no idea why he has tried to lean into being a postup player so much rather than a faceup shooter like he should be. Hes never gonna have the strength to back Cs down. To me it seems he shoots jumpers alot less than he used too.

Aside from playing out of position right now… He looks like a box of wine version of Tim Duncan because he is trying to be Tim Duncan or similar. He’s going to succeed as Evan freakin Mobley but only if he stays true to himself.

I made this post after his good game against the Pacer and was trashed but here’s the stats. He does in fact shoot less than his rookie season

    Evan Mobley 2021-2022 season, shots 16 ft < 3-point: 20/63 (32%)

    Evan Mobley 2022-2023 season, shots 16 ft < 3-point: 17/35 (49%)

    Sources: Evan Mobley 2021-22 Shooting | Basketball-Reference.com

    Evan Mobley 2022-23 Shooting | Basketball-Reference.com

He played 69 games in 21-22 and shot 63 times!!! In 22-23 he played 10 more games and only shot 35

Basically taking .9 or one a game in 21 and .44 or one every other game in 22.

Same with close midrange at 124 at 69 games and 122 and 79 games. Not to mention having more attempts at shooting a nearly 10% higher clip.

So what this tells you is exactly what the eye test says. He shoots far less and bangs in the post more

Dude made almost no progress on offense honestly, even from his rookie season to now. I think he’s a perennial 16-18PPG guy which is still great especially with his defense but he’s more Bam Adebayo than AD/Giannis/KG/Bosh
