This is my sons car. He came over yesterday and asked for help putting on a new belt. We got the new belt on but as soon as we turned the car on to check it his power steering fluid started bubbling over. What we suspect happened is that there’s a small aluminum flange bolted to the upper engine with a hose attached. In order to make the belt easier to loop around the upper pulley he detached the hose and pried the flange out of the way just a bit. He assumed it was a vac or AC line and since it wasn’t under pressure he didn’t think anything of it. But now air is obviously getting somewhere it shouldn’t. Could it be from the hose that he detached? Could it just need sufficient time to pull a vacuum again, or is there a chance the flange got a crack in it when he moved it? It’s aluminum so it does have some flexibility.
