I’ve been having some weird wifi issues that affect only one device in my network, specifically my phone (Pixel 7 Pro). Wonder if anyone else has experienced anything similar, and by any chance found a fix.

(Full disclosure, I tried asking about this question over on r/GooglePixel, but didn’t get any tips on solutions, so I’m trying here as well)

My network setup is like this: ISP router > cable > unmanaged switch > cable > DecoX20 > cable > 2nd DecoX20. Additionally I have some wired devices connected to the switch.

The issue I’m having is this:

On my home wifi, randomly some apps simply won’t load. They behave as if they do not have access to the internet, except they don’t actually say “no connection”, it’s more like they are just stuck loading forever. Other apps work as normal, for example I can open new websites in the browser, so there is no doubt that the internet connection is there and working. While this is happening I am also able to run speedtests, showing 4-500Mbps depending on where I am relative to the closest AP, so speed can’t be the issue either.

When this happens, if I disable wifi and go on mobile data, everything works again.

I think these issues started at the same time as I upgraded my access points at home from an old Asus system to a couple of Tp Link Deco X20, so naturally I first suspected that these were faulty. Though I found that odd too since they are running in AP mode, and the actual router is the same one that’s been there for years. Furthermore, other phones on the same wifi are not having any issues, neither are laptops etc. My phone is the only one having issues.

I suspect the issue comes up whenever my phone is switched between the two APs. If I use the “reset internet” button in settings on my phone, it usually fixes the problem - but it always comes back, and by now I’m quite sure it happens whenever my phone moves between APs.

I can use my phone without issues on the wifi at work, where there is also multiple APs (not sure about what brand or setup they use), so my suspicions is that there has to be something in the configuration of the Decos that I am missing. I don’t see how issues on the phone could cause trouble in one wifi network and not another.

Has anyone experienced anything similar, and by any chance found a solution? Any tips on how to troubleshoot further is also very welcome.
