Continuing a series I’ve been doing from the past couple of weeks, taking a look at some guys with real concerns, whether it be injury/underperformance/bad offense/etc., that I think are worth targeting to try and get for cheap. So these are not studs coming off one down week who are super obvious guys to target.

Pretty good results on some buy lows I’ve looked at over the past two weeks (but yes, the Miles Sanders addition from last week did not pan out), you can skip below this next section for this weeks targets!

- Tee Higgins and Joe Mixon both looked like themselves coming out of the bye - let’s hope you were able to grab them for cheap before last week and keep riding this Bengals offense.

- Ridley had a nice bounce back game, let’s hope he can show some consistency out of the bye.

- Devonta Smith finally had a big game! Let’s hope this a sign of things to come, although AJB is having an insane year and will probably continue to frustrate Smith owners

- Marquise Brown had a nice fantasy day on the back of a TD, might still be able to get him for reasonable price (especially if Kyler sits one more week)

- Bijan saw his first TD on 11 carries. He also had 5 targets but did not catch any, so still had an underwhelming fantasy day. I still think he is a decent buy right now - we’re just waiting for that one week where he puts together the carries, receptions and TDs.

Week 9 Targets

STILL BUYING

Aaron Jones

Why I’m Buying: Another underwhelming week for him - I have a feeling owners will be even more frustrated with him and the packers offense. Still, I think he has the upside of a high end RB2 and if you can get him for mid to low RB2 value I think it’s a great risk. This offense is going to have to lean on their running game.

Deebo Samuel

Why I’m Buying: Banged up, and a disappointing start to the year for the most part, this is still a great time to buy Deebo. 49ers continue to regress, but I think they’ll get it figured out and Deebo is a a major part of their offense when healthy. I’m guessing you can get him for a reasonable price right now, especially from a struggling fantasy owner, and the high end WR2 upside is there.

WEEK 9 BUYS - Bigger Names Than Usual!?

Davante Adams

Why I’m Buying: I try to avoid big names for the most part, but how could I leave him off? Struggling WR1, coach fired, team sputtering - is this the best buy low opportunity we’ve ever seen!? It comes with risk, but I think you have to bet on the talent here and go out and get Adams. New coach and potential QB change to AOC, let’s hope they realize the offense needs to run through their stud WR.

Tony Pollard

Why I’m Buying: Again, bigger name than I usually look at, but I know he’s going to be a popular player in trade talks this week. Coming off his worst fantasy performance of the season and facing the eagles Dline this week, this is your chance to buy an RB1 at a discount. Normally wouldn’t mention him, but he’s really only had one good fantasy performance in the past 5 weeks (including bye), so owners may be growing frustrated and looking to make a change. After this week the schedule opens up, and I’ll take the clear starter on a plus offense any day of the week.

David Montgomery

Why I’m Buying: Been injured and Gibbs hype is at an all time high, here is another chance to buy a stud RB. When he is healthy I believe this backfield returns to the 2 headed monster that saw Monty as an early season stud. There is room for both of these guys to succeed and I think you can capitalize on Gibbs recent success to get Monty at a discount before he returns to his previous role.

DK Metcalf

Why I’m Buying: Been banged up and underperforming for the most part on the year. However, he’s still seeing a massive target share and I think he’s due for some positive regression - both in receptions and TDs. I do think the Geno regression is real, though, so not someone I would go crazy for - but certainly worth seeing if you can get at a discount.

Chris Olave

Why I’m Buying: Left him off last week, but after another disappointing week I think it’s time. The target share is there, Carr just hasn’t been giving the best quality (meanwhile dropping dimes to Shaheed??). With only one above average game in the past 5 weeks, this is definitely the time to buy Olave stonks. We’re hoping Carr and him can get on the same page and turn all these targets into bigger days ahead, and some TDs wouldn’t hurt either…

NEW (OLD) ADDITIONS

Rhamondre Stevenson

Why I’m Buying: He seemed to be trending back upwards, but a 7 point performance this week could trigger some PTSD from his early season struggles. I still like him in the mid RB2 range, but try to see if owners have had enough of him. The schedule moving forward is MUCH better and this patriots offense will need to lean on their best (only?) fantasy threat.

Cristian Watson

Why I’m Buying: OK - I don’t feel great about this one. But I guess that’s why he’s still here? One of my favorite buy lows from a couple weeks ago, but Love looks bad and Watson has been nothing but disappointing. I’m looking to see if I can get him for next to nothing (someone else on your bench that you would never feel comfortable starting - or maybe a low end RB if you are deep), and seeing if the Packers offense can figure out how to get their best WR involved.

BONUS SECTION - OBVIOUS BUY LOWS

Kupp, Puka - Pay close attention to Stafford’s injury - as long as it’s not long term I’m trying to get both of these guys. If Stafford is out multiple weeks, I’m still buying Kupp everywhere (if can be had for discount)

Pacheco - Down week in a weird one for the chiefs offense, I’m buying if the owner is selling. High end RB2/borderline RB1 upside - but for some reason hasn’t quite gotten the recognition he deserves.

Kenneth Walker - Weird calf injury nonsense last week and ended up splitting the backfield with Charb, combined with every owner and their mother bringing up his ROS schedule? I’m buying where people are selling at a discount.
