I have the Sony 7000avr with 360 Reality Audio in the reference speaker configuration setup of 5.1.5.3 which is the 3 lower center channels, as well as 1 center upper which expands the front stage. What is the playback pathway for this config when watching movies in various formats such as Dolby, stereo, atmos, etc.? What is the avr’s DSP algorithm and what decisions are made on how those extra channels are used in the front stage since there are no native movies in that config? I realize the purpose is for music and I like that but I can’t find a white paper to understand how it handles auto-upconversion. btw I love how it handles movies making the front stage enormous and giving me specific sounds from the dedicated speakers that I never heard with a single channel center setup.
