Update 1/16 - Adblock has informed BleepingComputer that its engineers fixed the problem and released ABP 3.22.1 and AB 5.17.1 on the Opera and Edge extension stores. The same versions are currently in review on the Mozilla and Chrome add-on stores, and should be made available soon.
Yeah but the reactions around this has been incredibly jumpy.
We only get to ring the bell of “YouTube is blocking adblockers with performance hacks!” once. Now if/when it finally happens, it’ll be met with “are you really sure that’s whats happening now?”-skepticism.
It’s super important to keep an eye on any shenanigans from Google, but it can’t be done by raising alarms on incorrect information if the alarm bells are to be trusted.
