Hello everyone,
I’m trying to decide between the GT-AXE16000 and the RT-BE96U for my home network, which includes:
- 1.2GBe Internet
- NAS with 10GBe NIC
- PC with 10GBe NIC
- 11x Ring Cameras
- 4x Fire Sticks
- 8x Echo Devices
- Several Smart Devices
GT-AXE16000 pros over RT-BE96U:
- Wouldn’t need to use a 10GBe switch for my 2 10GBe devices due to dedicated 2.5GBe WAN port
- Dual 5GHz bands to help with network congestion
- Matured firmware and WiFi protocol
RT-BE96U pros over GT-AXE16000:
- WiFi 7 (future proofing)
I already have a 2.5GBe/10GBe switch that I’m using with my ISP-provided modem… so it’s more so if $150 more for additional future proofing worth it when I don’t even have any WiFi 7 devices at the cost of one less 5GHz band.
In case anyone wonders why I’m choosing between these two, or specifically ASUS:
- WiFi 6e Minimum
- At least 2x 2.5GBe+ ports (1 for connection to modem, 1 to switch (to 10GBe devices and to additional router for wired backhaul if I ever wanted to))
- Free Security Protection
