They are about 2 years too late.
The rise in interest rates and the end of easy VC money has swung the dial back to: Companies actually need to generate profit and not just show user growth to be attractive to investors.
The IPO will not go as spez dreamed for so long.
It would be such a pity if it turns out the protests caused him to miss the good window.
The protests came several months later, I doubt they had any effect. The end of the line was last January.
I give it 2 months before they axe or further cripple old.reddit prior to IPO, should give Lemmy another wave of new users.
If I were them I would definitely keep it up at least until the IPO so they can still count that traffic.
Oh, not a good time to do that. I wonder if something forced their hand to do an IPO during an economic downturn.
Yeah, spez wants to get paid before the whole thing comes crashing down.
Im sure content will just exponentially increase in quality once the only thing that is important is “stonks go up”.
A certain Steve miller band song comes to mind.
Take The Money and Run?
I was thinking more along the lines of: The Gambler
You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away and know when to run
Except they should have walked away about 4 years ago…when their chip stack was a much larger pile. Now they are trying to run with what they have left.
Hope Spez eats shit lol
I agree with you, Lemmy World version of me.
I see you, Kbin me.
Yeah you do buddy, yeah you do.
I think this is a great time for remaining Reddit users to do a 3 month Reddit detox.
Puts on that IPO.
Oh man. This is gonna be fun. I already got all the stuff I need off the site. I can’t wait.
