I saw Henderson all over the waiver wire lists this week and virtually no one talking about Royce Freeman (I can understand why). However with 4 teams on bye and few viable RBs this season, Royce might be a plug and play option for any of you who are desperate going into week 9. He’s rostered in only 13% of leagues according to NFL Fantasy’s site. Best part is he’s playing the Packers, who have allowed the 5th most points to RBs this season. Plus if Stafford is a no go on Sunday the Rams may need to rely on the run game to keep their offense chugging.
Darrell Henderson has left a lot to be desired the past two weeks and been pretty inefficient running the ball so far. He did have some nice catches this Sunday to salvage his fantasy value but his ground game was absolutely abysmal. Meanwhile Royce has looked not only decent but actually pretty damn good running the ball.
Now for the stats.
Week 7: Snapshare - 57% Henderson; 43% Freeman
Week 8: Snapshare - 47% Henderson; 53% Freeman
Week 7: Henderson: 18 carries for 61 yards (3.4 ypc) and a touchdown; 1/2 receiving for 5 yards
Freeman: 12 carries for 66 yards (5.5 ypc); 0/0 receiving
Week 8: Henderson: 12 carries for 31 yards (2.6 ypc); 3/3 receiving for 54 yards
Freeman: 9 carries for 44 yards (4.9 ypc) and a touchdown; 0/0 receiving
I wouldn’t be surprised to see McVay giving Royce a larger role this Sunday due to his efficiency these last two weeks. Henderson will still probably take on the receiving duties out of the backfield but I believe we see Royce will out snap and out carry Henderson this week and take the majority of redzone carries.
