For those who’ve been here since 2020, this season feels the closest thing to that championship year. During the 20-21, 21-22, 22-23 seasons, the Lakers overall record wasn’t an accurate reflection of their season. During each of those three seasons they’d always have close games where LA would lose in the final few minutes.
However, during the 19-20 season, LA was undefeated when leading the game going into the fourth quarter. This season hasn’t been as good as that season, but it’s the closest we’ve gotten to LA actually closing out games in the final minutes. These wins might feel tight but by the end of the season, you won’t remember “LA barely beat the Magic” it’ll be another statistic in the win column.
Regardless of how they’re getting these wins, I’d rather be 3-2 than 0-5 any day of the week. They lost to Denver by 10, barely lost to the Kings but won every other game. I’d say that’s a pretty good start to the season, especially when other teams are being blown out by 40+. You should all be proud of this team so far.
