I know tonight’s loss was frustrating (if we made any of those missed free throws, we win), but I encourage everyone to calm down and get some sleep. We lost by 5 in OT against last season’s WC Runner-up on the second game of a b2b without two key players, missing a ton of free throws, having 8 billion fouls called on us, LeBron having a monster performance, and with the bench having the worst game they’ve had in ages. All of that and we still only lost by 5 with plenty of bounces that could’ve gone our way. I understand that, given the prior 52 seasons of this franchise’s existence, it’s easy to go negative when a game like this happens near the beginning of season 53. But this happens to even the best teams. This past weekend the Kansas City Chiefs failed to win their 17th straight against the Denver Broncos. Streaks are broken all the time! I’ll close out by talking about those Chiefs as they’ve had a very similar franchise arc to the Clippers: Some success in the early years of the team followed by decades of futility with the team regaining respectability in recent years thanks to success. The 2 SB’s the Chiefs have won in the past 5 years have completely reshaped the public’s perception of the team from chronic losers to chronic winners. We’re this close to doing that. You just have to keep the faith.
