I was watching a video by Necrit about it, and I’ve no attachment to the lore itself or any lore for that matter, but just think it’s silly to restrict yourself so much. I think most people don’t really care about the discrepancies between Arcane and the previously established lore. Most people understand that they’re just making a story, and some of the old lore would get in the way of that.
But now apparently the next season will have to work around this, and any future property, on top of all the other challenges that come with creating a show. As mentioned in the video, Heimerdinger somehow goes from a gentle grandad that’s stuck in his ways, to a mad evil scientist. Or think about him and Singed ingame, neither of which I’d like to see changed, but at the same time I love how they’re depicted in Arcane.
Beforehand that didn’t really matter as the League world wasn’t cohesive and wasn’t really meant to be, but now they’re opening a whole can of worms that’s so incredibly idealistic and restrictive that I don’t see how it’s worth it. Ekko has two really cool disparate stories, but I guess they’re just erasing one of them? Like what do we actually gain from Arcane 100% matching everything else?
